Parental participation is essential for SLAC to run smoothly and successfully. Each week, around 50 parent volunteers are needed to help run our events and support the program. Without this shared effort, it simply wouldn’t be possible for the Centre to operate efficiently or provide the positive, encouraging experience our athletes enjoy. Your involvement, whether big or small, truly makes a difference to every child on the track.
There are a variety of parent duties that need to be filled each week to help our meets run safely and smoothly. Every role contributes to creating a positive experience for our athletes, and many require no prior experience.
Set‑Up - Arrive at 8:00am to help prepare all equipment for competition day. This usually takes around 1 hour. Four helpers are needed each week.
Pack‑Up - Assist with packing away all equipment at the end of the meet. Four helpers are needed each week.
Canteen/BBQ - Help serve families and athletes in the canteen & assist with cooking food at the BBQ. Four helpers are needed each week.
Age Group Assistants (Field Events) - Support the group by helping with tasks such as raking the sandpit, measuring jumps or throws, and retrieving implements (Shot Put, Discus, Javelin).
Top Track Assistants - Help with athlete marshalling and managing tags at the start and finish areas
