Centre Records at Sale Little Athletics Centre are a proud part of our club’s story. Since 1968, generations of young athletes have run, jumped, and thrown their way into SLAC history, setting benchmarks that reflect not only talent, but the spirit of determination that defines our community.
These records celebrate the outstanding performances achieved on our track and field over the years. Each one represents a moment where an athlete pushed beyond what they thought possible - a new height, a faster time, a longer throw, or simply the courage to give it everything.
At SLAC, we believe in Family, Fun and Fitness, and our Centre Records sit alongside that philosophy. They inspire our current athletes to chase their own personal bests, cheer each other on, and enjoy the thrill of improvement week after week.
Our records are updated throughout the season as new achievements are made. We invite families to explore the list and celebrate the incredible standards reached by members of our SLAC community - past, present, and those still growing into their potential.
Centre Records at SLAC are carefully checked to make sure every achievement is accurate, fair, and meets Little Athletics Victoria standards. When an athlete breaks a record, our officials confirm that:
the athlete is a fully paid and registered SLAC member (Come & Try athletes are not eligible for Centre Records)
the event was completed under standard Little Athletics rules
the correct age group and gender category were used
equipment and conditions met Little Athletics Victoria requirements
Once verified, the new record is added to our official Centre Records list and celebrated across the club. Records are updated periodically throughout the season as new performances are achieved.
Any fully registered SLAC athlete can set a new Centre Record- there’s no special nomination or process required. To break a record, an athlete simply needs to:
be a fully paid member for the current season
compete in their correct age group
complete the event during an official SLAC meet
achieve a performance that exceeds the current record
have the result confirmed by an official on the day
If a record is broken, our team will let the athlete and their family know. It’s a wonderful moment to celebrate, and it becomes part of SLAC history for future generations to admire.
Parent helpers play an important role in making sure potential records are handled correctly and fairly. When a performance looks close to a Centre Record, these steps help ensure everything is checked properly before the group moves on.
If you think an athlete may have broken a record, tell the Age Group Leader or an SLAC executive committee member straight away. Do not continue the event until the result has been checked.
Please do not move on to the next athlete or race until the performance has been verified. This is important because once the group moves on, it becomes much harder to confirm the result accurately.
An SLAC executive committee member must take or confirm the measurement or time using the correct equipment. Parent helpers may be asked to pause the group briefly so this can happen.
If an athlete is nearing a record height, please call an SLAC executive committee member over before raising the bar. This ensures the correct height is set, measured, and verified before the athlete attempts it.
With electronic recording, a potential record may not always be obvious. If the system sends a message asking you to verify a record, please:
stop the event immediately
do not move on to the next athlete or race
ask an SLAC executive committee member to confirm the result before continuing
This prevents accidental overwriting or loss of important information.
The athlete should stay in the correct age group and event area until verification is complete.
This helps officials confirm eligibility and ensures the result is recorded correctly.
Make sure the performance is written clearly on the event sheet or entered correctly into the electronic system.
Accurate recording helps the verification process run smoothly.
Breaking a record is exciting! A little encouragement goes a long way.
Once verified, SLAC executive committee member will confirm that the athlete is a fully paid and registered member and update the Centre Records list.
